The remote paradise of Arunachal Pradesh, Mechuka, is still not on the radar of tourists. It is a tiny attractive valley in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, located over 6000 feet above sea level and only 29 km from the famed McMahon line that separates India and China. During the 1962 Indo-China War, it served as a crucial military landing strip.
The valley's actual name is Menchhukha, although it is most often known as Mechuka. In the native tongue, the term literally means "medicinal snow water." The valley is surrounded by the enormous mountains, virgin forests, vast meadows, charming villages, fluttering prayer flags, rhythmic Siyom River, hanging bridges, grazing horses, sacred Buddhist monasteries, and is mostly populated by four major tribes: Memba, Ramo, Bokar, Lingbo, and Ta gin.
